Political anthems have been a staple in music for generations. Here's a short list of some of my favorites that addresses both black and political empowerment. Enjoy the music!

In this 1971 classic about civil unrest, Marvin Gaye asks America, "What's Going On?"

Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes encourages us to lead better lives in "Wake Up Everybody"

John Legend and Common address racial inequality in this inspirational anthem, "Glory."

As the voice of Harriet Tubman, Cynthia Erivo serenades about freedom in this gospel-inspired hit, "Stand Up."

Finally, rising country music star, Mickey Guyton, gives us a soulful performance of her personal anthem, "Black Like Me."

I hope you enjoyed the anthems. Now, what's your favorite political song? Tell me below!
